Man accused of arson

A 27-year-old has been returned for trial accused of throwing a petrol bomb at a police vehicle.

Jason Doherty, of Florence Street, is further charged with possessing a petrol bomb in suspicious circumstances, arson endangering life with intent and arson.

The charges relate to an alleged incident in the Strand Road area of the city on November 2, last year.

Doherty was released on continuing bail to appear at the crown court for arraignment on August 25.
