'˜Significant amount' of money found on street

The man discovered the "significant amount" of money near Abbey Street.

A Derry man is searching for the rightful owner of a 'significant amount' of cash he found in the Bogside area on Tuesday.

The man, who does not want to be named, was on his way to work at around 7:30am on Tuesday when he made the discovery close to the Derry Credit Union in Abbey Street.

“Someone will definitely be missing this money,” said the man.

“I don’t want to give away too many details but what I can say is that it is a significant amount.

“Only the person who lost the money will be able to tell me the exact amount and a few other details.”

The man continued: “The way I look at it is that what goes around comes around - if I lost money I would hope that someone would do the decent thing.

“Honesty pays and nothing good ever comes out of being dishonest.”
